A few weeks ago, we introduced you to the wonderful project launched by local agency Voyages Modestes and the association "Tous semblables, Tous Différents" for the manufacture of protective masks.
Facing the threat of Covid-19, it seemed important, even essential, to take action to protect the most vulnerable populations. A fundraising campaign was launched to collect the necessary funds for the manufacture and distribution of protective masks. Isaac Abissi, director of Voyages Modestes agency, the association "Tous semblables, Tous Différents," and the Foyer Oasis de Tokpota joined forces to bring this humanitarian project to life. Today, their efforts and generosity have been rewarded.
A Goal Achieved Thanks to Your Generosity
Just one euro is enough to manufacture two washable masks. With a fundraising goal of €500, the objective was to create 1,000 masks. 29 generous donors made it possible to raise just over €500, enabling the creation of more than 1 000 fabric masks, washable and reusable.
Thanks to these donations, the Foyer Oasis de Tokpota was able to launch production and create beautiful washable fabric masks. They were then carefully packaged and made ready for distribution.
Mask Distribution in Benin
Isaac Abissi, manager of Voyages Modestes local agency, collected the masks from Foyer Oasis de Tokpota and began their distribution, starting with Ganvié, where he provided masks to the women of the lakeside settlement.
The orphanage of the Amici di Francesco association received a donation of 120 masks, which they then distributed to the children, who were delighted and proud to wear these protective coverings.
The taxi-moto drivers of Zogbadje in Abomey-Calavi also received masks to protect themselves while continuing their work.
Finally, schools in the most remote areas were also able to benefit from these donations.
Today, even hidden behind masks, one can easily see the pride and joy radiating from the happy and smiling eyes of these children, women, and men. A chance and a beacon of hope for them to protect themselves and their families, to continue their lives and activities while reducing the risk of contamination.
