The Plateau Department is a southeastern department in the southern part of Bénin, bordering Nigeria. It is bounded to the North by the Collines Department, to the East by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to the West by the Zou Department and to the South by the Ouémé Department.

The Plateau Department is a southeastern department in the southern part of Bénin, bordering Nigeria. It is bounded to the North by the Collines Department, to the East by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to the West by the Zou Department and to the South by the Ouémé Department. It covers an area of 3,264 km², approximately 3% of the national territory, with a total population of 624,146 inhabitants (2013) and a density of 191 inhabitants/km². It is mainly populated by Nagot, Yoruba, Holli, Fon and Mahi peoples. Since 2013, the Plateau Department has comprised 362 villages and city districts. The Communes of Plateau The Plateau consists of five (5) communes: Adja-Ouèrè, Ifangni, Kétou, Pobè (the prefecture) and Sakété.
