Atlantique is a department located in the south of Benin. The Atlantic Ocean forms the southern boundary of the department, which is bordered to the west by the Mono department. Lake Ahémé and the Couffo River constitute the natural limits of its borders.

Atlantique is a department located in the south of Bénin. The Atlantic Ocean forms the southern boundary of the department, which is bordered to the west by the Mono department. Lake Ahémé and the Couffo River constitute the natural limits of its borders. To the north, the Atlantique department is bounded by the Zou department. This border is situated at the geographical level of the villages of Sèhouè, Kpomè and Djigbé and passes through the Lama depression. To the east, it is bounded by the Ouémé department. The border runs through the middle of the Ouémé valley and crosses Lake Nokoué to meet the coast at the boundary of the Littoral department. The population of this department is 1,396,548 inhabitants (2013), its density 432 per km2, its area 323,300 hectares or 3,233 km2. Since 2013, Atlantique has had 718 villages and city districts. The communes of Atlantique In this department we count the following communes: Abomey-Calavi, Allada, Kpomassè, Ouidah, Sô-Ava, Toffo, Tori-Bossito and Zè, which number eight (8).
